Paulo Pereira, Vice-president of FCT, replaces Miguel Seabra

Due to personal reasons, Dr. Miguel Seabra is not able to be present at LUSO 2013. Dr. Paulo Pereira, Vice-President of FCT, will replace him in the “New FCT” session.

 

paulo pereira Paulo Pereira is the current vice-president of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and Vice-Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Director of the Centre of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences (COCV) – Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and head of the Laboratory for Research in Biology of Ageing at COCV, Faculty of Medicine – University of Coimbra. Paulo is also the Director of the Laboratory for High-Resolution Cell Bio-imaging – University of Coimbra, which is part of the National Network of Electron Microscopy.
Paulo de Carvalho Pereira graduated in Biochemistry in 1990 from the University of Coimbra and received his PhD in Cell Biology in 1996. Paulo obtained the title of Habilitation (Agregação) by the Faculty of Medicine University of Coimbra in 2007. Paulo Pereira worked at the Division of Clinical Toxicology, University College of London, during his PhD training and as a Post-Doc. Paulo subsequently worked as an Assistant Professor/Visiting Scientist at Human Nutrition Research Centre on Ageing at Tufts University, Boston, USA.
